A Novel Method for Monitoring Tropical Cyclones’ Movement Using GNSS Zenith Tropospheric Delay

چکیده
Precipitable water vapor (PWV) is an important meteorological factor for predicting extreme weather events such as tropical cyclones, which can be obtained from zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) by using a conversion. A time difference of ZTD arrival (TDOZA) model was proposed to monitor the movement and fifth-generation reanalysis dataset European Centre Medium-range Weather Forecasting (ERA5)-derived (ERA5-ZTD) used estimate cyclones based on model. The global navigation satellite system-derived radiosonde data-derived PWV (RS-PWV) were test accuracy ERA5-ZTD analyze correlation between PWV, respectively. statistics showed that mean Bias, RMS STD 6.4 mm, 17.1 mm 16.5 respectively, coefficient RS-PWV 0.951, indicates predict instead PWV. Then, spatiao-temporal characteristics during four cyclone (i.e., Merbok, ROKE, Neast Hato) periods in 2017 analyzed, result moving directions consistent. Thus, series over ERA5 grids around cyclones’ paths velocity TDOZA model, when are approaching or leaving. Compared with China Meteorological Administration, absolute relative deviations model-derived 2.55 km/h 10.0%, These results suggest new supplementary parameter monitoring events.

Estimation of Tropospheric Zenith Delay and Gradients
We have analyzed data from an experiment over the Madrid (Spain) area obtained from 5 GPS receivers and 3 Water Vapor Radiometers (WVR), in order to compare their retrievals of Tropospheric Slant Delays. For this purpose we have tted a simple gradient model to both types of data, using a Kalman lter to account for the temporal variability of the zenith and gradient parameters. We show that the ...

In order to be able to be process GPS data, the GPS signal it has to pass the entire terrestrial atmosphere – both neutral atmosphere and ionosphere – which may cause an alteration of the GPS receiver to perform, resulting in large errors in the final position estimate. The dual frequency GPS receivers are affected by the influence of the atmosphere, especially by the troposphere. To estimate t...
متن کاملA New Zenith Tropospheric Delay Grid Product for Real-Time PPP Applications over China
Tropospheric delay is one of the major factors affecting the accuracy of electromagnetic distance measurements. To provide wide-area real-time high precision zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD), the temporal and spatial variations of ZTD with altitude were analyzed on the bases of the latest meteorological reanalysis product (ERA-Interim) provided by the European Center for Medium-Range Weather For...
متن کاملThe Role of Tropical Cyclones in the Formation of Tropical Upper-Tropospheric Troughs
Tropical upper-tropospheric troughs (TUTTs), also known as midoceanic troughs, are elongated troughs that appear in summer monthly averaged maps of the upper-tropospheric flow over the oceans. The transient part of these climatological features is composed of TUTT cells and their origin is the subject of this study. TUTT cells often occur to the east of tropical cyclones. A nonlinear shallow wa...
